Emergency Response Project Breakthroughs

From the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis to this date, Migrant Women Association Malta has been working closely with over 200 asylum seekers, refugees, and migrant women living in Malta.
Of these 200 women:

  • 135 Individuals receive support from our Emergency Response Project
  • 65 are survivors or at risk of sexual and gender-based violence,
  • 57 are unemployed,
  • 10 are urgently seeking employment,
  • 63 of which are mothers

Their ages range from 18-50.

Barriers

  • Trouble adapting to Malta’s employment system and it’s legal benefits
  • Limited digital literacy
  • Language barriers
  • Cultural and gender-based stereotypes against women
  • Family and / or motherhood commitment

The Current Plan

Thanks to the Melita Foundation, the trainers’ cost will be covered, this enables MWAM to host the Getting Online Project where digital literacy and the participants’ knowledge of Malta’s employment will be improved. This will allow women to work legally and contribute to Malta’s economy.

How you can help
